| Gearing up for Final Exams :) |
Well, we've almost arrived! This is the final week of school for students, with final assessments finishing up on Wednesday morning. The Provincial Assessment for the Grade 11 Math students was written last Thursday, and our students gave it their best effort. Please note that all final exams begin at 9 a.m. (see schedule below) and students must stay until at least 10:30 a.m. There is an assessment event in every course, so they should not have a day "off" unless they are a Grade 11 Math or Drama 801 student. We encourage all students to use the extra help time available from teachers in the afternoons to have their questions answered and to get themselves as well prepared as they can for the next exam day. Our teachers will be in their classrooms, ready and willing to help, but they can only help those who show up! Grade 12 marks will be calculated quickly so that the Grad List can be posted on June 22. The parents of students who do not meet the graduation requirements will receive a call from an administrator this weekend.

We're almost there Grade 12 Parents! Graduation for the TOSH Class of 2015 is scheduled for June 25 beginning at 6:45 p.m. at Credit Union Place. That will be a full day for our graduates, with the celebrations beginning at 9 a.m. with a breakfast for grads served by TOSH Staff. Report cards and transcripts are handed out and the class tree planted at the school. Students are then bused to the CUP for a morning graduation rehearsal that usually ends around 11:30 a.m. They are free after that until approximately 6 p.m. when they are asked to report to the CUP gown rooms in preparation for the graduation ceremony. The graduation is open to everyone and no tickets are required. The public are asked to be seated in the arena by the 6:45 p.m. start time so nothing will be missed! The Safe Grad activity follows directly afterwards, and forms and registration money ($25) for Safe Grad will be collected in front of the Lecture Theatre from 11:45-12:15 this Monday and Tuesday. Late applications will be accepted for double the cost, so please remind your son/daughter to get his/her form and money in. ONCE UPON A MEDIEVAL TIME...!
Mrs. Power's Grade 10 Ancient History 421 students brought Medieval Times to "life" recently when they presented their "Medieval Fair" in the caf. The costumes were impressive, as was the knowledge about the people and times they demonstrated. Here's a sample of their work for you to enjoy:
EXTRA-CURRICULAR AWARDS ASSEMBLY!
Grade 12 students were honoured recently for their involvement in extra-curricular activities during their time at Three Oaks. Every 10 hours of involvement in each club, team or group earns them 1 extra-curricular awards point to a maximum of 20 per group per year. Students who achieve 500-999 points receive a recognition certificate and those who accumulate 1000+ points are awarded a special school pin. Several of our staff who are TOSH Alumni proudly sported their own pins that day. The fact that many of these are coaches and advisors to various groups is a testament to the fact that folks who are involved this way in school often continue to lead and get involved as adults. We are very proud of the certificate and pin award winners and thank our entire Class of 2015 for all the "positive" that they have contributed to our school during their time with us. I had the opportunity to introduce Mr. Clow to the student body that morning, and I know that he will continue our administrative support of student activities next year.

CULINARY DELIGHTS!
I have been a proud member of the Staff Culinary Meal group this year, which means that I get a delicious gourmet meal prepared for me at noon hour by our Culinary 801 students several times each semester. Our students do a wonderful job of displaying their creations and each meal follows a specific theme. Each group is responsible for one segment of the meal, and the final results are impressive AND tasty!

COMPUTER 621 CLASS EMBRACES IT EXTENSION ACTIVITIES!
Our students in Mr. MacMillan's Computer 621 class were fortunate this semester to benefit from a project that happened thanks to a partnership between our school, the Summerside Regional Development Corporation (SRDC) and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA). Federal Minister and Egmont MP, Gail Shea, was at the school Friday to hear first had from one of our students how successful this project was. Kyle MacIsaac shared that he learned a great deal from the resource people who came in to work with his class each week, and he even extended his learning beyond what he learned in the course on his own time. This was definitely a "win-win" situation for all involved, and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to expose our students to the career opportunities that be possible for them in the IT world!

A huge THANK YOU! goes out to Sandra Hickey and Sarah Millar of the Summerside Credit Union for reaching out to our students as they finished their final week of classes before exams with a complimentary barbeque. The hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks were very much appreciated and provided some good "food for thought" as our students launched into what can sometimes be a stressful period for them at school.

THE NEW LOOK OF FINAL ASSESSMENT!
There are many ways to assess student learning and Ms. Barrett's Advanced Grade 12 English class had a unique opportunity to show off their speaking skills on exam day Friday when they presented their Best Man/Maid of Honour speeches to the class. The students even dressed the part, coming to class wearing wedding attire and celebrated at the end with a fancy wedding cake! A very creative way to get the job done...and fun too!

I will truly miss this school and the people in it! Thank you for your support of me during our time together and I sincerely appreciate you trusting your children to our care!
