Nicole's Notes: Volume 8 (November 10, 2014)

Happy Monday TOSH Parents and Guardians!

And Happy Remembrance Day! We had a wonderful assembly in honour of our veterans at school on Thursday and I am always so proud of the respect our students demonstrate when we gather together as a school community. We were grateful for the participation of the Colour Guard from the Summerside Legion and 200 Wing, as well as the honorary guard formed by some of our TOSH Sea Cadets. The pictures below should bear witness to the importance our school places on this special day of remembrance. We will be well represented at the City of Summerside's Remembrance Day services on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Teacher, David Chisholm and Student Government Council President, Brohan Brennan will both be speaking. Brohan will also be laying a wreath on behalf of our students and staff.  We encourage all our students, staff and their families to take the time to attend a local commemorative service and say "We Remember."

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD COLLECTION CONTINUES!
The Community Works Council will be collecting items for shoe boxes to be sent to children in developing nations in time for Christmas. Students are asked to bring in non-perishable items like school supplies and personal hygiene items that will fit in a shoe box for both boys and girls. Thank you to everyone who donated items to the box we had available during Parent Teacher interviews, as well! This campaign will run until Nov. 21 and the Charity Jar collection for this month will go towards the postage costs involved in delivering our shoe boxes to the children.

REPORT CARDS COMING HOME FRIDAY!!!

Your son/daughter will be given his/her report card to bring home to you on Friday. Please take the time to read the comments that our teachers have provided, as they have put many hours into offering our students important descriptive feedback. I know this to be true, because I read every report card and I can attest to the excellent work our teachers are doing in this area. I have asked them to provide our students and you with a celebration of what is going well and some concrete examples of things students can do to improve as we move into the second half of Semester 1. If you have any questions or concerns about your son/daughter's report card, please do not hesitate to contact me at the school or via e mail: nmhaire@edu.pe.ca.

THANK YOU, TOSH CLASS OF 1979!!
The Three Oaks Class of 1979 held their 35th High School Reunion this summer and decided to donate the $295 left over from their festivities to the TOSH Athletic program to be used toward the purchase of new uniforms that might be needed. Thank you to these generous TOSH Alumni for supporting our current TOSH students!

CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR A SUCCESS!

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our Annual Christmas Craft Fair Saturday and Sunday. It was definitely a team effort with many staff and students dedicating many hours to make sure that everything ran smoothly...and it did!
