Team TOSH "representing"! |
Well, we managed to "weather" a rather "interesting" Winter Carnival week! The Activities Council members had planned an awesome week of events around an Olympic theme, but two unwanted snow days wreaked havoc on those plans. We celebrated "Jersey Day" on Tuesday with "Make Your Own Sundae" and "Olympic Bingo" in the caf at noon. Olympic events were playing on the big screens in the gym and everyone was hyped and ready to cheer on Heather Moyse and teammate, Kaillie Humpries, to their second Olympic gold medal on Wednesday. We celebrated our Canadian pride instead when we finally returned to school on Friday. LOTS to be proud of with our Canadian athletes having so much success in Sochi, for sure, and fostering that pride in our students is an important part of what we do! A huge thank you goes out to all staff and students who showed so much support for our Winter Carnival Activities. Your school spirit is infectious!! Check out the photos below!
Some of our awesome TOSH staff members dedicated time this weekend in support of the Summerside Rotary Club's Curling Fun Spiel. Mr. Lilly, Mr. Hockin (also a Rotarian), Mr. Arsenault, and Chris McCarthy (interesting that they needed a chiropractor on their team?! ;))-pictured above-helped raise much appreciated funds for Rotary projects, such as the STRIVE program. Five TOSH grads receive these STRIVE scholarships on graduation night each year. Mr. Donovan curled this weekend, as well, and we appreciate them all sharing their time and skills in support of the important work the Rotary members do in our community!
The Parent Council is still looking for donations to the Potluck Lunch they are hosting for Staff Appreciation now on Wednesday, February 26 at 11:45 p.m.
Please e mail Karen Smith ASAP at:smithkaren2@hotmail.com to indicate your interest in helping out! We are hoping we won't need a storm date!! Thank you to all parents/guardians who had food ready to go last week!
A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to Reg and Tobi MacDonald for their generous donation of plaques for our recent fundraiser in support of the "In Our Own Backyard" program! Draw winners were:
1st Prize- Linda Cashin
2nd Prize- Gaylene Albert
3rd Prize- Shelly MacLeod
Thank you to Mr. Rob Corkum for making the draw!

The Crew will be sharing informational videos and national statistics, as well, that day in an effort to raise awareness and activate empathy.
WATERLOO MATH CONTEST 2014
The University of Waterloo develops and administers many internationally recognized contests to help to inspire the next generation of students to develop an interest in, and love for, mathematics and computer science. We had approximately 15 students prepared to write this test on Thursday (aka Snow Day #2) and appreciate those who were able to sit the test on Friday morning when we returned to school. Our students have traditionally done well in the Pascal, Cayley, and Fermat tests, and we look forward to celebrating our students' results this year! Thank you to Mr. David Gallant for being our staff liaison and to Mr. David MacEachern for volunteering his classroom and proctoring services! A team effort, for sure!
