Our Library Has "Gone to the Dogs"! |
We had a great start to Semester 2 last week, and I would like to acknowledge the hard work of my staff in that process. It is not an easy feat to finish up marks and report card comments for one semester while putting on the "razzle dazzle" for the new classes coming in! Report cards for Semester 1 will be distributed to students in homeroom on Monday, so we encourage you to ask to see those when your son/daughter arrives home from school.
As mentioned previously, our official "course change" time period ended on Friday. If your son/daughter is in a special situation and you wish to discuss this, please contact Mr. Jason Gallant via phone (888-8460) or e mail: xjgallant@edu.pe.ca.
The Parent Council is sending home a request for donations to the potluck they are hosting for Staff Appreciation on February 19 at 11:45 p.m.
Donation forms can be filled in and returned to the Main Office this week, or simply e mail Karen Smith at: smithkaren2@hotmail.com to indicate your interest in helping out!
Parent Council will meet in the Library Monday at 6:30 p.m. All new members are welcome!
NOTE: We encourage you to follow our school library happenings on Instagram: @toshlibrary!

NEW UPEI SCHOLARSHIP STRUCTURE ANNOUNCED
UPEI President and Launch Team Visit TOSH |
UPEI's CELEBRATING STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT program features both Guaranteed Entrance Scholarships and Academic Excellence Awards-rewarding academic excellence upon entrance to, and throughout undergraduate studies at UPEI. Students will be motivated to do well and continue to do well in high school and university, as they will know automatically at what level they will be rewarded.
For the first time, students entering UPEI directly from high school will be guaranteed an entrance scholarship based on their Grade 12 average (award value will be confirmed based on an applicant's final admission average (the average calculated on the five courses used in making the admission decision) after receipt of grades at the end of the high school academic year):
Guaranteed Entrance Scholarships:
80.00-84.99%- $500
85.00-89.99%- $1000
90.00-94.99%- $2000
95.00-100.00%-$3000
85.00-89.99%- $1000
90.00-94.99%- $2000
95.00-100.00%-$3000
These new awards are also "stackable", which means that students entering their first year will still be eligible for over 50 named, donation-based entrance scholarships (a number of which are full-tuition, renewable awards) and for the George Coles Bursary ($2200), offered to PEI residents by the Government of PEI.
Students in high school who have already applied for admission will receive a letter from the University reflecting the new scholarship plan and implications for them. If a student has not yet applied to UPEI, they are encouraged to apply ASAP (and before March 1/14) to be considered for all scholarship opportunities. For more information, visit upei.ca/scholarships.
